On December 17, at Bonhams' Modern Decorative Art + Design auction in New York, four exceptional Tiffany & Co. silver and mixed metal items from Mary Jane Morgan's Gilded Age collection fetched over $500,000. These museum-quality pieces, featuring the Japanesque style, had not been available for over thirty years. Mary Jane Morgan, the spouse of industrialist Charles Morgan, was a notable collector and supporter in the late 19th century. Benjamin Walker, Bonhams’ Global Head of Modern Decorative Art + Design, remarked on the remarkable interest in the auction, where all items sold, with many surpassing expectations.
