Tiago Rodrigues Opens Presente Indicativo Festival with Two Works
The Presente Indicativo festival, organized by Piccolo Teatro di Milano and dedicated this year to the concept of "Crocevia," opened on May 14 and 15 with two works by Portuguese director, playwright, poet, and actor Tiago Rodrigues: By Heart and La Distance. By Heart, created in 2013 when Rodrigues directed the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II in Lisbon, features Rodrigues as the sole performer and narrator, alongside ten randomly selected audience members each night. The experiment involves memorizing William Shakespeare's Sonnet 30 by heart, and the performance lasts exactly as long as it takes for all participants to learn the poem.
