Three Via Crucis by Lucio Fontana on View in Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Three Via Crucis by Lucio Fontana are simultaneously visible in Milan, including a video version. One comes from the Chapel of the Istituto religioso le Carline (1956-57), now in the Crypt of the Church of San Fedele. Another is from 1947, now in a private collection in Parma. The third was conceived in 1955 for the chapel of the Casa materna – Asili nido Ada Bolchini dell’Acqua, designed by Marco Zanuso. The exhibition arose because the Region of Lombardy, at the request of the Museo Diocesano di Milano, purchased this Via Crucis, which will be deposited in the museum from May. Paolo Biscottini, director of the museum and curator of the exhibition, discusses the importance of the three works.
