Three Solo Exhibitions: Gillespie's Paintings, Gross's Sculptures, Kentridge's Magic Flute Drawings

exhibition · 2026-04-22

Through February 25, 2006, Forum Gallery showcases two exhibitions. Gregory Gillespie's retrospective features approximately thirty paintings that merge Renaissance influences with disturbing visuals, such as "Soccer Star" (1968) and "Self-Portrait with Bread and Chakras" (1987-88). His artistic methods delve into themes spanning from Catholicism to Hinduism. Additionally, Chaim Gross’s collection includes nearly twenty wood and bronze sculptures, crafted from the 1940s, with notable works like "Vanity" (1941) and "Baby Balancing on Feet" (1950), emphasizing acrobatic and maternal subjects. Concurrently, Marian Goodman Gallery presents fifty drawings by William Kentridge, also until February 25, 2006, which inspired his 2005 rendition of Mozart's "The Magic Flute." Both galleries are located in Manhattan: Forum Gallery at 745 Fifth Avenue and Marian Goodman Gallery at 24 West 57th Street.
