Three short films celebrate Antony Gormley's interventions in Tuscany

On Monday, January 26, at 5 PM, the Complesso Museale di Santa Chiara in San Gimignano will host the free screening of three short films by Matteo Frittelli dedicated to British artist Antony Gormley (London, 1950). The event, titled "Proiezioni / Visioni: Antony Gormley," is part of the Rete del Contemporaneo in Toscana program promoted by the Centro Pecci in Prato. The first film focuses on Gormley's 2012 exhibition "Vessel" at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano, featuring 12 solid iron works installed in the gallery and around the city, including atop Torre Salvucci. The second film covers his 2015 intervention at Forte Belvedere in Florence, where over 100 anthropomorphic iron sculptures engaged with the historic landscape. The third film documents his 2021 installation in Prato's Piazza del Duomo, where the cast-iron sculpture "SHY" was placed in dialogue with the pulpit by Michelozzo and Donatello on the facade of the Cathedral of Santo Stefano. All three interventions span the last fifteen years across Tuscany.
