Three Outsider Artists Take Over Historic Caffè Fiorio in Turin

The historic Caffè Fiorio in Turin, once a meeting place for nobility and figures like Cavour, Rattazzi, and D'Azeglio, is hosting its first contemporary art exhibition. Titled "In ostaggio di loro stessi" (Hostage to Themselves), the show is organized in collaboration with Riccardo Costantini Contemporary and conceived by artist Gianni Colosimo. The exhibition features 70 works by three "irregular" artists: Franko B, Cosimo Cavallo, and Colosimo himself, spread across seven rooms decorated in 18th-19th century style with gold damask, red velvet, and mirrors. Franko B (born Milan, 1960), an international performance art figure, explores the theme of home through continuous variations. Cosimo Cavallo (born Turin, 1968), a true outsider living in the occupied Cavallerizza structure, presents abstract paintings in search of perfect form. Gianni Colosimo (born Crotone, 1953), a historical figure in the art world, creates works where the pursuit of fame and notoriety becomes both subject and aesthetic object, such as a painting reproducing part of the dollar bills used to wallpaper the Galleria Pack in Milan for his 2006 installation "Wallpaper." The exhibition runs at Caffè Fiorio, located in Turin, Italy.
