Three NYC Exhibitions: Karin Davie's Abstractions, Pat Steir's Moons, and Pamela Crimmins' Aquatic Photography

Karin Davie's exhibition at Mary Boone Gallery, showcasing her distinctive looping abstract paintings that delve into formalist themes with vibrant, lyrical lines, will be on display until June 25, 2005. A Canadian artist, Davie rose to prominence in the mid-1990s alongside contemporaries such as Udomsak Krisanamis, Bruce Pearson, and Fred Tomaselli, participating in group exhibitions like "Post-Hypnotic" and "Ultra Buzz." Her wet-on-wet painting technique, which lacks a ground, creates the illusion of deep space through flowing squiggles. Meanwhile, Pat Steir's "Moons and a River" at Chiem & Read, featuring large-scale works like the 26-foot "Blue River," is available until May 7, 2005. Additionally, Pamela Crimmins' "Dreamhouse" at Littlejohn Contemporary, which includes photographs from swimming pools that distort suburban Connecticut views, will be open until May 26, 2005. All exhibitions are situated in New York, with Davie at 541 W. 24th Street, Steir at 547 W. 25th Street, and Crimmins at 41 E. 57th Street.
