Three New Manga by Osamu Tezuka Released in Italy
J-POP Manga and Edizioni BD have added three new titles to their Osamushi Collection, a series dedicated to publishing Osamu Tezuka's work outside Japan. The latest releases are Melmo, Neo Faust, and Ludwig B. Melmo (1970) is an early example of the magical girl genre, following orphaned Melmo who uses magic candies to age or regress. Neo Faust (1988) reimagines Goethe's Faust as a manga, focusing on a professor's pact with a demon. Ludwig B, left incomplete due to Tezuka's death in 1989, depicts the early life of Ludwig van Beethoven, blending historical facts with fictional elements. Tezuka, born in 1928 in Toyonaka and died in 1989 in Tokyo, is considered the most influential manga artist, with over 400 volumes and 700 stories. His career began at age 17 with Ma-chan's Diary in 1946. He also founded Mushi Production animation studio.
