other · 2026-05-04

Three films are released in Italian cinemas this week. Pet Sematary, directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, is based on Stephen King's horror novel and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It follows Dr. Louis Creed who moves with his family from Boston to rural Maine and discovers a mysterious cemetery near his home. After a tragedy, he turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, triggering a dangerous chain reaction. King told Entertainment Weekly: 'It's really a good film. It's an adult film, mature.' Che fare quando il mondo è in fiamme? by Roberto Minervini premiered at the Venice Film Festival. This black-and-white documentary is set in summer 2017 in the United States, where a series of police killings of young African Americans sparked protests. Minervini marches with a civil rights collective, denouncing police violence. The film is distributed in Italy by Cineteca di Bologna with Valmyn. Il grande spirito stars and is directed by Sergio Rubini, alongside Rocco Papaleo. It tells the story of a small-time thief, Tonino, who after a robbery hides in an attic inhabited by Renato, who believes he belongs to a Native American tribe. The film is distributed by 01 Distribution.
