Three new films: Carrisi's thriller, Addams Family animation, Dardenne's youth drama

This week's cinema releases in Italy include three genre films with strong emotional impact: 'L'uomo del labirinto', 'La famiglia Addams', and 'L'età giovane'. Donato Carrisi's second directorial feature, 'L'uomo del labirinto', is a thriller based on his own novel, distributed by Medusa Film. It follows a missing teenage girl and a detective with a heart condition, featuring a vintage aesthetic and a comic book as a key prop. Executive producers include Toni Servillo and Dustin Hoffman. 'La famiglia Addams' is an animated film directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, distributed by Eagle Pictures. Originally conceived as a stop-motion project by Tim Burton at Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures, it was later produced as a CGI cartoon by MGM. The characters first appeared in single-panel cartoons by Charles Addams in The New Yorker in the 1930s. 'L'età giovane' (original title 'Le Jeune Ahmed') by the Dardenne brothers won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival and premiered in Italy at the 17th Alice nella Città. Distributed by Bim Distribuzione, it tells the story of a malleable teenager drawn into Islamic extremism, inspired by the 2016 terrorist attacks in France and Belgium. The project initially faced controversy over its subject matter.
