Three New Books Explore Italian Photography, Architecture, and Design

Three new books delve into the intersections of photography, architecture, and design in Italy. The first, "Italia in miniatura Luigi Ghirri & Ivo Rambaldi," published by Mack, collects Ghirri's photographs of the Italia in Miniatura park in Rimini, created by Rambaldi. Curated by Ilaria Campioli, Joan Fontcuberta, and Matteo Guidi, the volume includes Ghirri's series "In scala" (1977-1978) and a 1985 selection, plus archival material from Rambaldi. The second, "Visioni (im)possibili. Comunicazione, Utopia, Progetto nelle Collezioni CSAC," edited by Cristina Casero and Maria Pia Branchi and published by Electa, surveys the CSAC collection at the Abbazia di Valserena in Parma. Founded by Carlo Arturo Quintavalle and now directed by Casero, the collection spans paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, and designs by key Italian figures from the MAC to Munari, Giò Ponti, Enzo Mari, and Ettore Sottsass Jr., covering postwar reconstruction, graphic design, and fashion. The third, "ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel as seen by Carlo Valsecchi," published by Silvana Editoriale, documents the studio's projects from 2000 to 2020 through Valsecchi's photographs, with essays by Francesco Zanot, Valerio Paolo Mosco, Francesco Bonami, and Deyan Sudjic. The book covers works in Milan, Hamburg, and Taiwan.
