Three New Art Books: Hickey, Nuclear Energy, Landscape Photography
Johan & Levi editore has reissued Dave Hickey's 'Il drago invisibile. Quattro saggi sulla bellezza' (The Invisible Dragon: Four Essays on Beauty), originally published in 1993. Hickey, the American critic who died in 2021, wrote these essays as a response to the controversy surrounding Robert Mapplethorpe's 'Portfolio X'. The new edition includes an introduction by Michele Dantini. The book is priced at €17.00. Artphilein has released 'Nuclear Energy and Power, Photobooks from the Artphilein Library' with a text by Danilo Correale and photographs by Takashi Homma. The dossier surveys photobooks on nuclear energy and features Homma's images of radioactive fungi collected in Fukushima, Scandinavia, Chernobyl, and Stony Point, New York. It costs €19.95. Quodlibet published 'Nuove avventure sotterranee' curated by Alessandro Dandini de Sylva, a six-volume set with photographs by Domingo Milella, Stefano Graziani, Luca Nostri, Rachele Maistrello, and Giulia Parlato. The project documents construction sites of the Ghella company in Naples, Vancouver, Buenos Aires, Brisbane, and Auckland, blending archival images with new commissions. The set costs €60.
