Three Must-See Gallery Shows in Venice This Autumn

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Three Venice galleries present solo exhibitions exploring tradition and innovation. At Galleria Victoria Miro, Brazilian artist Maria Nepomuceno (Rio de Janeiro, 1976) debuts her first Venetian solo show, fusing ancient Brazilian craft techniques with Murano glass in organic, vibrant sculptures. Her spiral-sewn cord works incorporate beads, ceramics, resin, and found objects, evoking natural spirals from galaxies to DNA. At 10 & zero uno, Marzio Zorio (Moncalieri, 1985) presents 'Mitopoiesi,' featuring two new cycles of works investigating sound and space. Glass pieces made in Murano with Berengo Studio function as sculptural and sonic membranes; visitors can touch and move vase-like forms on a table, composing a changing polyphony. In another room, seeds in test tubes move incessantly, producing a rhythmic beat. At Barbati Gallery in Palazzo Lezze, Adam Alessi (Los Angeles, 1994) holds his first Italian solo show 'Fields,' marking a shift from figuration to meditative abstraction. Works inspired by the palace's architecture and Venice's atmosphere explore fragmented memory through textured surfaces and quiet color fields. A wooden desk and two chairs invite contemplation.
