Three Milan Exhibitions: Zazà Ramen, Toselli, and Bonzanos

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Three exhibitions in Milan push perceptual boundaries through light, sound, and form. At Zazà Ramen (via Solferino 48), Rafael Yossef Herman (b. 1974, Be'er Sheva; lives in Paris) presents four works from his 'Rafael Y. herman da Zazà' project until October 4, 2019. Using a rigorous night-time technique, he photographs natural scenes devoid of artificial light, capturing a luminescence invisible to the naked eye—sometimes without shadows—evoking the primordial light of Genesis. At Galleria Toselli's temporary space (via Tortona 31), 'Dagli angeli alla motosega' runs until May 26, 2019, featuring Angelo Formica (b. 1975, Milazzo; lives in Milan) and Luigi Puxeddu (b. 1971, Perugia; lives in Rome). Formica's A4 drawings trace sound waves from angelic flight, while Puxeddu creates wooden sculptures with a chainsaw. Franco Toselli describes Formica's angels as having a new sky, drawing sonic waves with air and pencil. Bonzanos Art Group—Stefano Bonzano (b. 1965, Casale Monferrato) with his children Elisa and Davide—shows 'Attraverso il cosmo' (2017), inspired by Andreas Cellarius's celestial atlases. Their 3D-printed copper wire sculptures evoke cages yet contain experiences, based on 'emotional physiognomy' that traces emotions on the body. New projects are slated for late 2019–2020.
