Three Milan Exhibitions Celebrate Hidetoshi Nagasawa
Milan pays tribute to Hidetoshi Nagasawa (Mudanjiang, 1940 – Milan, 2018) with three simultaneous exhibitions curated by Giorgio Verzotti, organized by Moshe Tabibnia and Casa degli Artisti in collaboration with the Archivio Nagasawa. The project, titled 'Hidetoshi Nagasawa 1969-2018', spans Galleria Building, Galleria Moshe Tabibnia, and Casa degli Artisti. At Galleria Building, the largest section features about forty works, including videos of early performances, late works on paper from 2018, and two previously unseen pieces from 2012, 'Cubo' and 'Nastro'. The display is non-chronological across three floors, highlighting pieces like 'Casa del poeta' (1999), 'Barca' (1980-1981) in marble, 'Colonna' (1972), and 'Top of Pyramid' (1969). Galleria Moshe Tabibnia presents another version of 'Barca' (1983-1985) in brass and Japanese paper, alongside antique rugs. Casa degli Artisti, where Nagasawa had his studio for thirty years, reopens his workspace with a selection of drawings, maquettes, and preparatory casts, many shown for the first time, and features 'Compasso di Archimede' (1991) on the terrace. The studio was officially named after Nagasawa on May 8. Exhibition dates: Galleria Building until July 20, 2024; Galleria Moshe Tabibnia until May 25, 2024; Casa degli Artisti until June 4, 2024.
