During the summer of 2011, San Francisco showcased three notable exhibitions focused on early 20th-century art. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presented 'The Steins Collect: Matisse, Picasso and the Parisian Avant-Garde,' curated by Janet Bishop, Cécile Debray, Rebecca Rabinow, and Gary Tinterow, which ran until September 6 before heading to Paris and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Meanwhile, the De Young Museum displayed 'Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris,' featuring 150 pieces, until October 9. Additionally, 'Seeing Gertrude Stein: Five Stories' at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, curated by Wanda M. Corn and Tirza True Latimer, concluded on September 6 before its transfer to the National Portrait Gallery. These exhibitions underscored the Stein family's significant impact on modern art, showcasing pivotal works like Matisse's 'Le Luxe I.'
