Three Madrid Exhibitions Coincide with ARCO Week

During ARCO Madrid, three notable exhibitions open across the city. At Espacio Fundación Telefónica on Gran Vía, Argentine artist Leandro Erlich (born 1973, Buenos Aires) presents two installations, 'Changing Rooms' and 'Nest of Clouds,' running until April 23. 'Changing Rooms' is a labyrinthine sequence of mirrored spaces creating a mise en abyme effect. 'Nest of Clouds' features glass shelves containing printed glass plates that map the political borders of seven European states. At the Palacio de Cristal in Retiro Park, German artist Lothar Baumgarten's sound installation 'El barco se hunde, el hielo se resquebraja' plays a two-hour audio piece recorded between 2001 and 2005 along the Hudson River, capturing the sounds of ice breakup, birds, and visitors. The venue, a glass and iron greenhouse used by the Museo Reina Sofia, amplifies the immersive experience. At the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Móstoles, the solo exhibition 'Perspectiva' by Argentine artist Jorge Macchi features 60 works spanning 30 years, including drawings, videos, paintings, photographs, and installations from 1990 to the present. The pieces come from public and private collections in Argentina, Spain, Portugal, and the United States, including acquisitions by the ARCO Foundation. The exhibition runs until June 11.
