Three Italian restaurants where art takes center stage

In Italy, a growing number of fine-dining restaurants are integrating curated contemporary art into their spaces, moving beyond mere decoration. Three notable examples are Casa Kbirr in Naples, VIVO RistorArte in Bologna, and Krèsios in Telese Terme. Casa Kbirr, opened in 2018 by entrepreneur Fabio Ditto, features works by young Neapolitan artists, including lamps by Iron Angels, wood sculptures by Eddy Ferro, and recycled-metal pieces by Luigi Masecchia. Ditto also supports local culture through initiatives like the #Cuoredinapoli label and collaborations with the cooperative La Paranza. VIVO RistorArte, recently opened by chef Vincenzo Vottero in Bologna, hosts three solo exhibitions per year curated by Licia Mazzoni, starting with Simona Ragazzi and followed by Octavia Monaco (from March 3 to mid-September). Krèsios, run by two-Michelin-star chef Giuseppe Iannotti in Telese Terme, displays works by artist Alfredo del Bene (The Animismus), including a provocative series on Pinocchio and the 50days project. These restaurants exemplify a trend toward multifunctional spaces that nourish both body and spirit.
