Three Italian music training initiatives respond to COVID-19 closures

During the COVID-19 pandemic, three Italian music training projects emerged as constructive responses to club, theater, and concert hall closures. In Turin, OFF TOPIC launched OFF CAMP, a staff training program for its 30 workers, created by The Goodness Factory with Cubo Teatro and Klug. Partners include Fondazione Santagata, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, SIEDAS, and Engagedin. The project was conceived by Annarita Masullo and Daniele Citriniti. In Bologna, Scrambler Ducati Live, a new live music and storytelling format involving emerging Italian musicians, partnered with 24ORE Business School. Students in the Digital Communication, Content & Social Media Marketing master's program developed a global launch strategy for the project, which features live sessions at Scrambler Ducati Food Factory and Fonoprint studio. Fabrizio Savigni, the master's professor, oversees the project work. Meanwhile, the Scuola di Specializzazione in Beni Musicali, active in Ravenna since 2010, expanded to the University of Bologna in 2021. Directed by professor Angelo Pompilio, the biennial school trains specialists in musical heritage management and valorization, with mixed in-person and remote lessons in five intensive weeks per month until May.
