Three Italian Galleries Launch Project Inspired by John Berger's Stories

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Three galleries from Italy—Galleria Tiziana Di Caro, Federica Schiavo Gallery, and Laveronica Gallery—have introduced "Qui dove ci incontriamo" (Here Where We Meet), drawing inspiration from John Berger's 2005 anthology. This initiative began in 2019 with the Norma Mangione gallery and includes exhibitions across Rome, Naples, and Modica. The inaugural exhibition, titled "Per necessità di rappresentazione" (For Necessity of Representation), is currently on display at Galleria Tiziana Di Caro in Naples until September 6, 2024. Featured artists include Igor Grubić, Shadi Harouni, and Jiajia Zhang. Zhang's works, including the video "Between the Acts" and the photographs "Rose" and "Switch," challenge notions of authenticity, while Harouni's series pays tribute to women's resistance, inspired by Jina Mahsa Amini. Grubić’s piece, "The End…or is it?" contemplates nature's defiance against climate change and the impacts of the pandemic.
