exhibition · 2026-04-27

During the UEFA European Championship 2020, three Italian museums present football-themed exhibitions. At MUFOCO in Cinisello Balsamo, 'Chi non salta. Calcio. Cultura. Identità' curated by Matteo Balduzzi features over thirty artists reflecting on football's role in Italian culture through photography, installations, and video, on view until October 24, 2021. In Modena, FMAV – Palazzo Santa Margherita hosts 'Eurogol. 60 anni di Europei in figurina' curated by Francesca Fontana and Marco Ferrero, displaying over 60 albums from Gianni Bellini's collection tracing the history of football stickers from the 1980s onward, until August 22, 2021. At Villa Romana in Florence, Dutch artist Esper Postma presents 'Face Fear' from June 30 to July 29, 2021, focusing on Rome's Foro Italico and Stadio dei Marmi 'Pietro Mennea'—sites originally built under Fascism—through architectural fragments and installations, supported by a research grant from Villa Romana and the Kunsthistorisches Institut Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut.
