Three Artists Shortlisted for BMW Art Journey Prize at Art Basel Hong Kong

During Art Basel Hong Kong, three artists were named as finalists for the BMW Art Journey travel grant. Abigail Reynolds, Newsha Tavakolian, and Alvin Zafra will each develop journey proposals, with the winner to be selected in early summer 2016. All three artists are exhibiting in the Discoveries sector of Art Basel Hong Kong. The prize, launched in 2015, is awarded twice annually to artists participating in specific sectors at Art Basel fairs. A jury including Richard Armstrong of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Claire Hsu of Asia Art Archive, Matthias Mühling of Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Bose Krishnamachari of Kochi-Muziris Biennale, and Pauline J. Yao of M+ will select the winner. The BMW Art Journey is supported by Art Basel and BMW. Previous winners from the Miami Beach edition include Henning Fehr and Philipp Rühr. The shortlisted artists represent galleries from London, New York, and Mandaluyong City.
