Three apps for cultural tourism with children reviewed
An article on Artribune reviews three mobile apps designed to make cultural tourism engaging for children. Firenze Family Tour, developed with Istituto degli Innocenti, Comune di Firenze, Associazione Mus.e and D.Uva Workshop, offers two geolocalized itineraries (Roman Florence and Medici Florence) with audio for ages 6-9 and 10-13, but the audio clips are too short. Histopad, winner of the 2015 FIAMP Festival special prize organized by AVICOM, provides an AR experience at Château de Chambord, available only on-site via rented iPad for €8. MUBApp, created by MUBA – Museo dei Bambini di Milano, offers a child-friendly tour of the museum's building (Rotonda della Besana) and includes a food-themed layer inspired by Expo, covering Italy, France, Russia, Morocco, India, Japan, Mexico and the United States. The app costs €2.99 on iOS.
