Thomas Huber's Retrospective 'Vous êtes ici' at Mamco
From February 22 to May 6, 2012, the Mamco in Geneva showcases a retrospective exhibition of Thomas Huber, titled 'Vous êtes ici'. Curated by Christian Bernard, this display encompasses over 300 pieces organized into 36 categories, such as 'La Fête des noces' and 'La Poste'. Since the 1980s, Huber has concentrated on painting, typically presented on easels, with oil-based drawings that echo clear-line comics. A significant work, 'Huberville' (1998), features a city of monumental models. In Geneva, painted wooden panels illustrate locations with surreal modifications, drawing inspiration from Renaissance cities and Romantic landscapes, with recurring themes of conical hills and Noah's ark. Mamco has also published a collection of Huber's writings, and he conducts lectures on his art.
