publication · 2026-04-22

The Platform Theatre at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, was the venue for the launch of Thomas Hirschhorn: Deleuze Monument on Saturday, 18 October 2014, from 17:00 to 18:30. This event featured a dialogue between Swiss artist Thomas Hirschhorn and Anna Dezeuze, an art history and theory lecturer at the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design Marseille-Méditerranée. They explored the book and Hirschhorn's methodology for creating and sustaining public artworks, mentioning his previous monuments: Gramsci Monument (2013), Bataille Monument (2002), and Spinoza Monument (1999). Hirschhorn, based in Paris, has recently exhibited works in 'Höhere Gewalt' at Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin; 'Flamme Eternelle' at Palais de Tokyo, Paris; and 'METAMATIC Reloaded' at Museum Tinguely, Basel (all 2014). Admission was free, but prior booking was necessary, and the event received support from The Sandra Blow Fund.
