Thom Yorke and Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Anima' Short Film Premieres on Netflix

On June 27, 2019, Netflix released 'Anima,' a 15-minute short film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and featuring music from Thom Yorke's solo album of the same name. The film stars Yorke as a somnambulant worker in a dystopian dreamscape, blending influences from Fritz Lang's 'Metropolis' and George Orwell's '1984.' Choreography by Damien Jalet, who has worked with Luca Guadagnino, Antony Gormley, and Marina Abramović, underscores the mechanical movements. Filmed in underground Prague and at the Château des Baux-de-Provence, the piece accompanies three tracks from Yorke's album, which follows his score for Guadagnino's 'Suspiria.' The collaboration continues a history of Anderson directing Radiohead videos, including 'Daydreaming' (2016).
