This is Denmark: Danish Design Exhibition at Milan Design Week

The exhibition 'This is Denmark' at Milan Design Week showcases fifteen Danish design companies, selected through a dual curation process by journalists Elena Cattaneo and Laura Traldi. Promoted by the Royal Danish Embassy in collaboration with The Confederation of Danish Industry and Creative Denmark, the display features products from established brands like Kvadrat, House of Finn Juhl, and Royal Copenhagen alongside newer ventures such as Morten Mernøe's lighting company (founded 2020) and MyTrash (founded 2018), which produces outdoor furniture from landfill plastic. The installation, designed by Matteo Ragni Studio, includes a walkway over water evoking Danish docks, with each product accompanied by a 40-second audio description triggered by visitors. A soundtrack by sound artist Alessandro Pedretti uses organic and industrial sounds, while a lounge area curated by Sissi Valassina features a video by Silvano Richini. The exhibition emphasizes Danish values of simplicity, quality, and craftsmanship, and explores the relationship between land and water in Danish landscape.
