Third Edition of Quirinale Contemporaneo Blends Art and Design with Italian Heritage

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The third installment of Quirinale Contemporaneo was unveiled alongside the previously postponed edition, which was delayed due to the pandemic. This initiative allows the public access to Quirinale Palace, highlighting its cultural significance while supporting national artists. Project manager Cristina Mazzantini noted that the selection spans significant artistic movements from the post-war era to the 21st century. This year features 102 design pieces from 57 creators, with notable contributions from Bianconi/Venini, Castiglioni, and Scarpa. Highlights include Paola Navone's Pinecone Grande and Gaetano Pesce's I Feltri armchairs. In the realm of contemporary art, 17 artists presented 27 works, such as Carol Rama's Senza titolo and Lucio Fontana's Concetto spaziale, though some pieces, like Mimmo Rotella's, were seen as less impactful.
