Third Alberto Burri Museum to Open in Umbria, Dedicated to Graphic Works

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Fondazione Palazzo Albizzini Collezione Burri in Città di Castello will inaugurate its third museum on March 12, 2017, coinciding with the artist's birth anniversary. The new space, located in the former Tobacco Drying Sheds (ex Essicatoi del Tabacco), will be exclusively dedicated to Burri's complete graphic and multiples oeuvre, comprising over 200 works. This addition expands the exhibition area to 11,500 square meters, making the 'Burri Hub' the largest artist museum in the world. Bruno Corà, president of the foundation, emphasizes that Burri's graphic works are not secondary to his paintings but represent a parallel artistic modality. The museum occupies over 4,000 square meters obtained through redevelopment of lower-level spaces within the same complex that houses Burri's Grand Cycles. Corà notes that Burri pushed technical boundaries in printmaking, achieving extraordinary results. The centenary year of Burri's birth concludes with this major event.
