Thiago de Paula Souza to Curate 8th Athens Biennale in 2027

Brazilian curator Thiago de Paula Souza has been appointed to direct the eighth Athens Biennale, set to take place in Spring 2027. With notable past experience at the 36th Bienal de São Paulo and the 10th Berlin Biennale, he is also slated to co-curate the 38th Panorama da Arte Brasileira in 2024 at MAM São Paulo, along with an exhibition in London titled "Some May Work as Symbols: Art Made in Brazil, 1950s–70s." Additionally, he serves on the artistic committee of the NESR Art Foundation in Angola. The Biennale, established in 2005, has adopted a fresh governance structure led by prominent collectors.
