Theatrical Performance Ascends Florence's Torre di Arnolfo

A site-specific performance titled 'Elevazione' took place atop Florence's Torre di Arnolfo, part of the 'Firenze dall'alto' project for Estate Fiorentina 2019. The performance, directed by Simona Arrighi with a text by Laura Forti, featured actors Alessandro Baldinotti and Sandra Garuglieri. Spectators climbed over 230 steps to reach the summit, experiencing a temporary suspension between earth and sky. The narrative centered on Girolamo Savonarola, who was imprisoned in the 'Alberghetto' cell within the tower before his execution. Baldinotti and Garuglieri portrayed Savonarola's moral sons, embodying curses about the Flood and Fire. A video report by Alessandro Bartoletti documents the event.
