From June 30 to August 6, 2017, Raven Row in London showcased a retrospective exhibition of The Theatre of Mistakes. This performance-art collective, which operated between 1974 and 1981, utilized a conceptual and rule-based approach to their work. The exhibition included archival items such as photographs, texts, and ephemera that chronicled notable pieces like The Street (1975) in Kentish Town and Ascent of The Stedelijk (1976) at the Stedelijk Museum. Core member Anthony Howell led daily workshops inspired by his 1976 publication, Elements of Performance Art. The group's hallmark performance, Going (1977), directed by Fiona Templeton, featured performers in office attire navigating a cyclical narrative. The exhibition emphasized their educational methods and systematic planning, paralleling the conceptual art of Sol LeWitt, while also offering insights into the 1970s English art scene.
