The Yanomami Struggle Exhibition Premieres in New York at The Shed

From February 3 to April 16, 2023, The Shed in New York City will host the U.S. premiere of 'The Yanomami Struggle,' showcasing the work of activist and photographer Claudia Andujar in partnership with the Yanomami community. Curated by Thyago Nogueira alongside Yanomami leader Davi Kopenawa, the exhibition features more than 200 photographs by Andujar and over 80 pieces created by Yanomami artists, as well as new video works from Yanomami filmmakers. Organized by IMS, Fundação Cartier, and The Shed, this exhibition builds upon earlier displays in São Paulo, Paris, and London, emphasizing Andujar's activism during Brazil's Military Dictatorship (1964–1985) and the continuing fight for land rights. Born in Switzerland in 1931, Andujar has spent over 50 years advocating for Yanomami rights.
