The Walk: Little Amal puppet crosses Europe for refugee children
The Walk is a traveling festival orchestrated by director Stephen Daldry, producer Tracey Seaward, theater director David Lan, and Good Chance, in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Company, under the artistic leadership of Amir Nizar Zuabi. Central to the event is Little Amal, a 3.5-meter puppet representing a 9-year-old Syrian girl, operated by 26 individuals. The festival kicks off on July 27 in Gaziantep, journeying through 8 countries and 65 cities, concluding in Manchester. From September 7-19, Amal will stop in Bari, Rome, Scampitella, Naples, Genazzano, Spoleto, and Assisi. Notable ambassadors include Gillian Anderson, Jude Law, and Anish Kapoor.
