The Title as the Curator's Art Piece at Galerie Christophe Gaillard
Isabelle Le Minh curated an exhibition titled 'The Title as the Curator's Art Piece' at Galerie Christophe Gaillard in Paris from January 20 to February 26, 2011. The title was borrowed from a series by artist Stefan Brüggemann. The show brought together works exploring conceptual art, including Le Minh's own 'Listing/détails' featuring four screens displaying artists' statements. Claude Rutault's 'Interchangeable Généralisé, définition/méthode n°49' (an orange canvas on an orange wall) was paired with Miguel-Angel Molina's 'Peinture en forme de flaque de peinture,' which drips Rutault's color from the frame to the floor. Karin Sander's 'Mailed Paintings'—white canvases sent without packaging, bearing postal marks—offered a ready-made ambiguity. Jill Miller inserted her own dancing image into John Baldessari's film 'I'm Making Art.' A photograph by Le Minh of the back of Philippe de Champaigne's 'Veil of Saint Veronica' hung behind Rutault's canvas. Yann Sérandour's 'Titled (Art as Idea as Idea)' closed the exhibition with a dictionary entry defining Joseph Kosuth instead of a common noun.
