The Square returns to Sky Arte with Nicolas Ballario for second season

digital · 2026-04-26

The second season of The Square, hosted by Nicolas Ballario and produced by TIWI, premieres on Sky Arte on Thursday, November 25. The series covers art and culture through reports, guests, animated segments, and event highlights. The first episode announces the three finalists of the MAXXI Bulgari Prize for young contemporary art talents. The animated segment Crazy Times focuses on 1967, a culturally rich year overshadowed by 1968. Studio guest Roberta Tenconi, curator of Maurizio Cattelan's exhibition Breath, Ghosts, Blind at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan (until February 22), discusses the show. Actress Isabella Rossellini presents her documentary Pompei. Eros e mito, directed by Pappi Corsicato, in cinemas from November 29 to December 1. The season also features segments from exhibitions and museums across Italy. Past guests included filmmakers Alice Rohrwacher and Pupi Avati; musicians Davide Toffolo, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Rodrigo D'Erasmo, Francesco Bianconi, Samuele Bersani; writers Nicola Lagioia, Serena Dandini, Carlo Lucarelli, Daria Bignardi, Fumettibrutti; performers Stefano Fresi, Marco Giallini, Luca Bizzarri, Drusilla Foer; and artists Lady Tarin, Valerio Berruti, Giovanni Gastel. The Square's space becomes a magazine format this year, with Nicolas introducing reports from Italian museums. The site is powered by Artribune, which manages content and digital interface.
