The Shards Premiere: Cast Celebrates 1980s Thriller at SVA Theatre and Hotel Chelsea

The world premiere of FX's "The Shards" took place on Monday night at the SVA Theatre in Chelsea, followed by an after-party at the historic Hotel Chelsea. The series, based on Bret Easton Ellis's 2023 horror novel, is set in 1981 Los Angeles and follows five privileged high school seniors navigating identity, sex, jealousy, and obsession while a serial killer terrorizes the city. Executive produced by Ryan Murphy, the show airs August 5 on FX and Hulu. Cast members Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Igby Rigney, Homer Gere, and Jordan Roth attended, with Gerber wearing a semi-sheer Valentino gown and Roth in a Stéphane Rolland Couture jumpsuit. Murphy noted that 1981 was a seminal year in his life, influencing the show's music and fashion. The after-party featured retro decorations and a DJ set by Daily O'Dell. Evan Rachel Wood, who plays a supporting role, wore an archival Dior gown by John Galliano. The series marks Roth's television debut as Steven Reinhardt.
