The Registry: Centre for Design Opens in Bengaluru with 'Perched Upon a Woven Sky'

A new multidisciplinary institution named the Registry: Centre for Design has been inaugurated at 7 Cornwell Rd, Langford Gardens, Bengaluru, featuring an exhibition called 'Perched Upon a Woven Sky.' This event, curated by Aayushi Jain and presented by The Registry of Sarees (Trust), not only celebrates the Centre's opening but also commemorates the tenth anniversary of The Registry of Sarees, established by Ally Matthan. Over the last ten years, Matthan has emerged as a pivotal figure in India's textile and design sector, dedicated to the research and preservation of handwoven textile traditions through an extensive archive. The Centre for Design embodies the evolution of Matthan's vision, merging archives, material culture, and contemporary creative practices, inviting visitors to explore textiles at the crossroads of tradition and innovation.
