The Phair 2026 in Turin spotlights fashion photography as critical art

The seventh edition of The Phair, an international photography fair in Turin, will take place from May 22 to 24, 2026, with a major focus on fashion photography. The fair presents four photographers—Giovanni Gastel, Françoise Huguier, Marco Glaviano, and Michelangelo Di Battista—shown respectively by galleries Photo & Contemporary (Turin), Ira Leonis (Arles), Deodato Arte (Milan), and Jaeger Art (Berlin). Gastel transformed Italian fashion photography into an autonomous language through work for Vogue and Vanity Fair. Huguier's series Sublimes, based on fifteen years of haute couture workshops and shows, explores the ritual and secret dimensions of fashion. Glaviano, with over 500 covers and editorials, treats glamour as a cultural construction where the body becomes a palimpsest of social codes. Di Battista's Mystery in the Moonlight, created with Jake and Dinos Chapman and featuring Claudia Schiffer, blends fashion photography with imaginary cinema, 1950s horror, pop culture, and contemporary art using hand-painted backdrops and dramatic lighting. The fair positions fashion photography as a hybrid language that reads the present through bodies, desires, and collective aspirations.
