The Others Art Fair 2022 returns to Turin with labyrinthine display

The 11th edition of The Others Art Fair, running from November 3 to 6, 2022 at Padiglione 3 of Torino Esposizioni, introduces a labyrinthine display as its main novelty. Artistic director Lorenzo Bruni emphasizes the theme of the labyrinth as an archetype of complexity, disorientation, and democratic horizontality, replacing the traditional grid layout. The fair's focus is on dialogue between different generations and cultures, with young European galleries joined by exceptions from Chile, Japan, and England. Nonprofits, historical galleries working with young artists, and those exploring the boundary between art, architecture, and design are not separated into sections but associated by common themes. The curatorial board includes Daniela Grabosch, Lydia Pribisova, and Marta Orsola Sironi. New initiatives include a prize for young curators, a network with Turin festivals, and a web TV project. Key artistic themes include the relationship between humans and new technologies, explored by Ukrainian artist Ira Lupu through online sex workers, and East-West dialogue via the AAIE Center for Contemporary Art featuring four emerging Asian artists. Bruni states the goal is to provide young creativity to experienced collectors and first-time buyers, fostering democratic exchange among curators, artists, and gallerists.
