The Others and FLAT Fairs Expand for Turin Art Week 2017

Turin's art week in November 2017 sees new developments for two collateral fairs alongside Artissima. The Others, founded by Roberto Casiraghi and now in its 2017 edition, will expand its exhibition space to the first floor of the former Regina Maria Adelaide hospital, where it relocated in 2016. A new section called Specific will host site-specific installations in former operating rooms and outpatient clinics. The fair's visual identity was designed by Francesca Luccisano, winner of an open call for young talents. Meanwhile, FLAT (Fiera Libro Arte Torino), founded by Chiara Caroppo, Beatrice Merz, and Mario Petriccione, will debut as a fair dedicated to international art publications, including exhibition catalogs, monographs, artist books, and rare editions. Its exhibition section is curated by Elena Volpato, and the talks program is coordinated by Francesca Valentini. The Fondazione per l'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT supports FLAT through the Premio FLAT – Fondazione Arte CRT, awarded to an editorial project to be realized the following year, and the establishment of the Fondo Giorgio Maffei for acquisitions by a Turin museum. Although initially planned for the Centro direzionale Lavazza designed by Cino Zucchi, FLAT will be held at the 17th-century Palazzo Cisterna in 2017, as the Lavazza headquarters will not be ready until early 2018. Artissima itself opens with a new director, Ilaria Bonacossa.
