The Orb House by Chiasmus Partners in Yongin, South Korea

Chiasmus Partners has finalized The Orb House, a 198 m² dwelling located in the Hyangrindongsan region of Dongbaek-dong, Yongin, South Korea. Finished in 2023, this residence is positioned halfway up a hillside within a well-established neighborhood, where individual homes are interspersed among wooded slopes. The architectural design harmonizes with the natural landscape, utilizing retaining walls, trees, and variations in elevation to create layered perspectives that draw the eye from private gardens to the expansive scenery beyond. The site effectively frames views of the nearby village and forest. The project team comprised structural/civil engineer Cheil Structure Lab, main contractor YJ Architect, and HVAC/MEP/electrical engineering by SeungJin Eng. Inc. Namsun Lee captured the photographs.
