The Occult Spell of Gala and Dalì: Love as Sacred Fire
In 1929, Salvador Dalì encountered Gala, whose real name was Elena Ivanovna Diakonova, in Paris at the screening of "Un chien andalou." Camille Goemans facilitated their introduction, leading Dalì to invite notable figures, including Buñuel and René Magritte, to his residence in Cadaqués, Spain. There, he and Gala fell in love, despite her existing marriage to Paul Eluard. Gala eventually left Eluard, and she wed Dalì in 1958 at the Cathedral of Girona. Following her death in 1982, she was interred in a castle in Púbol that Dalì had purchased for her. Dalì passed away in 1989, professing that his love for Gala surpassed everything, as she was his muse and guiding force throughout his creative endeavors.
