The New Habitat 27/28: Future Homes Prioritize Health, Color, and Shared Living

The annual report The New Habitat 27/28, produced by Futurea and promoted by APE Grupo, identifies three major transformations in domestic spaces: healthier homes, more expressive interiors, and greater adaptability to new forms of coexistence. According to the report, 22.1% of professionals prioritize opening homes to the outdoors, while users are willing to increase their budget by 11.3% for sustainable solutions. The concept of a Low-tox Home emphasizes environmental cleanliness over mere appearance, using air purification, water filtration, low-emission materials, and bio-based adhesives. Designer Monica Armani notes that homes now must provide emotional balance, not just functionality. Neutral interiors are giving way to a restrained maximalism where color becomes a tool for identity and optimism. Radiators, switches, and shelves are no longer hidden but become atmospheric elements. The report also highlights the rise of multigenerational housing, co-living, and hybrid models combining private spaces with shared infrastructure.
