exhibition · 2026-05-04

To mark the 2026 Met Gala, themed "Fashion Is Art," The Metropolitan Museum of Art will unveil the Condé M. Nast Galleries, a new 12,000-square-foot permanent space for the Costume Institute. In conjunction with this, The Met Store has launched a special-edition collection celebrating the "Costume Art" exhibition, which showcases 5,000 years of artistic representations of the dressed body. Featured designers include Tory Burch (silk scarf), Thom Browne (limited-edition nesting dolls), Michael Kors (T-shirt and tote bag), John Derian (decoupage trays and paperweights), and Elif Uras (hand-fired vases, including her 2015 piece Pregnant Haliç II). Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances are also part of the collection. These items can be found online at store.metmuseum.org, with in-store sales starting May 5. Additionally, an exhibition catalogue by Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, will be available, highlighting works by Madeleine Vionnet, Madame Grès, and Alexander McQueen.
