The Grand House: Luxury Diffuse Hotel in Historic Roman Palazzos

The Grand House (TGH) launched in 2019 as a luxury diffuse hotel in Rome, offering 12 historic residences as suites. Founded by Massimo and Maurizio Micangeli, third-generation hoteliers, the project was inspired by their family's century-long involvement in luxury hospitality. Lavinia Borghese (brand and property strategist) and architect Gaia Grossi selected the properties, located near landmarks like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain. Each residence features contemporary art and design, curated with input from collector Ines Musumeci Greco. Services include Ask Alfred, a 24/7 concierge inspired by Batman's butler, located near Castel Sant'Angelo with photography by Giovanni De Angelis. TGH also offers 'emotional ciceroni'—experts in wine, food, design, and art who guide guests to secret spots, from Pasolini's Rome to street art in Garbatella, luxury dinners with chef Cristina Bowerman, and helicopter tours to Bolgheri wineries with enologist Gelasio Gaetani d'Aragona Lovatelli. The concept targets travelers seeking cultural immersion and exclusivity, positioning them as 'club members' rather than tourists.
