The Forest: Sweden's Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai

Sweden's pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai, titled 'The Forest', is designed by Alessandro Ripellino Arkitekter, Studio Adrien Gardère, and Luigi Pardo Architetti. The Expo will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, expecting 25 million visitors. The jury, composed of Architects Sweden and the committee for Sweden's participation, selected the project for its fusion of Nordic forest and Islamic geometric design. The pavilion features public spaces like an open-plan exhibition area and café at street level, with offices and conference rooms as 'tree houses' above. Hundreds of tree trunks create enclosed spaces, while wooden lattice screens outside the tree houses provide shading. The design includes a co-creative communication area for circular economy and forest sciences. Tree trunks along the perimeter form a permeable natural barrier, inviting visitors to explore.
