The Fence: largest public photo exhibition in US returns to Brooklyn Bridge Park

United Photo Industries directors Laura Roumanos and Sam Bazilay have launched the current edition of The Fence, the largest public photographic exhibition in the United States. The outdoor show runs until September 10, 2018, along a printed plastic ribbon on the fence surrounding Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo, New York. After Brooklyn, the exhibition will travel to Boston, Santa Fe, Atlanta, Durham, Denver, Calgary, and Sarasota. The open-call selection process allows anyone to submit a project, engaging passersby who view the photos without interrupting their commute. Notable series include Griselda San Martin's "The Wall," documenting the U.S.-Mexico border at Friendship Park where separated relatives can see and touch each other through the barrier; Idris Salomon's "Blackbirds," featuring young African American dancers from Harlem; and Sara Bennett's "Life after Life in Prison," a human rights lawyer's photographic documentation of her work behind bars.
