The European Pavilion Lands in Rome for a Three-Day Program on Europe's Future
The European Pavilion, a biennial public arts initiative launched in 2020 by the European Cultural Foundation, arrives in Rome for the first time from November 17 to 19, 2022. The program features exhibitions, conferences, performances, installations, and workshops across multiple cultural venues including Villa Massimo, the Goethe-Institut, the Biblioteca Hertziana, the Museo delle Civiltà, the Istituto Svizzero, Nero Editions, and the Accademia di Francia. Over 30 artists and researchers from 10 organizations participate, addressing themes such as migration policies, food sustainability, European identities, democracy, and peace. The event marks the culmination of a two-year cycle of transnational projects. Highlights include reading sessions on migration at Nero Editions, a group exhibition at the Goethe-Institut featuring works by antiwarcoalition.art, Brunnenpassage, and Ylva Gislén & Johan Widén's 'Dinner for the Future'; the virtual reality installation 'EUPavilion Eight Proposals' at Villa Massimo; and 'The Forbidden Garden of Europe' by Studio Wild at the Istituto Svizzero, which critiques EU migration policies.
