The Box: Italy's First Digital Platform for Comics Professionals Launches

The Box, the first Italian online portal dedicated to comics and publishing professionals, was announced at Lucca Comics & Games 2022, which set a record with 322,000 tickets sold. Created by Emanuele Tenderini of Tatai Lab (a Tuscan creative lab) and Ginger Lab (a Sicilian IT company), the platform functions as a self-service recruitment agency where authors—including illustrators, colorists, writers, and publishers—can create personal profiles to network and promote their work. Presented in closed beta at the fair, The Box is free and open to all, aiming to generate work opportunities by connecting professionals and newcomers lacking contacts. Users can upload portfolios, post job listings, and browse commission requests. The platform also offers fiscal and bureaucratic templates, contracts, and invoice models to guide young artists.
